The basics

1in8B is a free browser life simulation — no account, no sign-up. Optional extra: a one-time Cloud Life Keep purchase (US$3) that stores your completed lives on our server. Paying never changes a life in the simulation: no longer lives, no better odds.

Fiction built on real statistics

Lives are fictional stories drawn from public statistics (UN World Population Prospects, World Bank, WHO). They are not a prediction of anyone's future and not medical, legal or financial advice.

Content notice

Following real statistics, lives can include illness, accidents, war, poverty, drinking, smoking, gambling, prison, violence at home and early marriage; suicide and sexual violence can occur at real-world rates, without explicit depiction. Recommended for ages 15 and up.

Your records

Lives are kept in your browser and can be lost if you clear the site's data or the browser frees space. Cloud Life Keep is provided as-is: keep your keep key safe, because without it the kept lives cannot be recovered.

Payments and refunds

Cloud Life Keep is a one-time purchase handled by Polar, with taxes shown at checkout. If something goes wrong, contact us within 14 days of purchase at [email protected] for a refund, unless your local law provides differently; after a refund, access to the kept records ends once the payment provider's window closes.

Sharing and streaming

Share your own lives, images and videos freely, including on monetized channels — a credit such as “1in8B · in8b.com” is appreciated. Do not abuse the share or cloud services (no scraping or automated bulk requests) and do not present the simulation's output as real statistics about real people.

Rights

The site's code, text and design belong to their author. The images your browser generates from your own lives are yours to share. Public statistics remain under the terms of their sources.
